2002: Living in Fear

In 2002, I spent three weeks reporting on the DC sniper attacks. In this photo, police watch as parents pick up their children at a Maryland elementary school, one day after a one of the snipers’ victims was killed nearby. Tonight, convicted sniper John Allen Muhammad has been executed.
