Making point with his hair

I can’t find the story now but I photographed this guy in 1998 as he went to federal court in Philadelphia after his high school had demanded that he cut his hair for the safety of others. In this moment he had invited reporters to touch his hair. Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua, 1923-2012

Retired Philadelphia Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua died last night. Earlier this week, a judge ruled that the aging Catholic leader was competent to testify in an upcoming trial of other priests who have been accused of covering up child sex allegations. I photographed Bevilacqua at this Christmas party photo opportunity about 20 years ago. It was one of my last photos made with black-and-white film.
