Looking back at 2017

I don’t take pictures for a living anymore but I still carry a camera just about every day. Here are some of my favorite images from last year in chronological order with the captions I included on my Instagram account:

Sign of the times, 2003

Thousands demonstrated along Park Avenue in New York City during meetings of the World Economic Forum at the Waldorf Astorio New York hotel on a freezing January day in 2003.

First snow in Philly

I took a walk with my camera late this morning to catch the first snowflakes of the season as they fell around the Washington West section of Center City Philadelphia.

Snow covers cars on Spruce Street.

A carriage passes along Washington Square.

Marching for peace in Philadelphia, 2003

Demonstrators march down North Broad Street in Philadelphia in February 2003, voicing their objection to the impending war in Iraq. Police estimated that the crowd numbered 10,000 people.

I captured this image looking north from one of the upper floors of the former Philadelphia Daily News and Inquirer building at 400 North Broad Street.

Countless signatures cover portraits of Meek Mill by artist Mark G on display in Center City Philadelphia last week. Mill was sentenced to prison earlier last month for violating probation on a roughly decade-old gun and drug case.
